Mental Health First Aid is a topic we can all benefit from learning more about. With 1 in 5 Australians experiencing mental health issues each year, and mental ill-health affecting many in the building and construction industry, it is becoming increasingly important to ensure all sites and teams know how to identify mental health issues in team members and colleagues.

Learning the signs of when an individual needs support, how to respond appropriately, and how to provide support until professional help is available, or the crisis resolves, can make a huge difference to someone.

What’s included?

Outcomes include how to:

  • Intervene early – Recognise the warning signs of mental health problems in other adults.
  • Offer support – Learn the skills to speak openly and accurately about mental health.
  • Respond in a crisis – Respond across a range of crisis situations where an adult may be at risk of harm.
  • Reduce stigma – Increase support for adults experiencing and living with mental health problems.
