In response to the changing needs of the renewable energy sector, the training packages used for upskilling renewable energy workers have been updated, and we have responded to this by releasing our new Design grid-connected battery storage systems (design-only) online course for non-electricians.
This course is tailored for professionals in the electrical sector who are not licensed electricians – such as renewable energy sales specialists and electrical engineers. With online delivery, you can complete the training from the comfort of your home or office, making it ideal for busy schedules.
You’ll learn how to design battery storage systems for grid-connected solar installations, including core design principles, different types of battery storage technologies, and the compliance standards required for connecting battery systems to the grid.
This course will help broaden your technical capabilities and open up new opportunities within the renewable energy and electrical sectors. It can help you offer more specialised support, enhance the services you provide, and strengthen your future career prospects.
The course is an online self-paced training program (up to 90 hours), allowing you to learn at your own pace, to be completed within 3 months from enrolment. The expert trainer will support and mentor you throughout the course.
This course covers competencies fulfilling the requirements of Solar Accreditation Australia (SAA) for electricians seeking design-only accreditation in the design of grid-connected battery storage systems.
In this course you will learn about:
This course builds on the knowledge from the Design-only grid-connected photovoltaic systems course, so a prerequisite for enrolment is a Statement of Attainment in the following Units of Competency:
and/or
Solar Accreditation Australia (SAA) accreditation:
If your previous solar training is different to the above, please give us a call to discuss your options.
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be eligible to apply to Solar Accreditation Australia.
Successful completion of this course provides you with the knowledge and skills required to apply for SAA accreditation and the ability to demonstrate the:
Students who successfully complete all assessments of this course will receive a Statement of attainment for the following units of competency, meeting the training component of Solar Accreditation Australia’s for GCBS Design & Installation:
Students may apply for Credit Transfer (CT) or RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) in accordance with the NECA Education & Careers Recognition of CT or RPL Policy.
For more information, please refer to our Recognition of Prior Learning Policy.
This course is delivered 100% online. This is done through the NECA E&C learning management system (LMS).
The course (up to 90 hours),includes learning theory, tasks and assessments. The expert trainer will support you throughout the course with one-to-one mentoring as needed.
If needed, students have up to 3 months to complete online learning and assessments. An extension can be requested.
We recommend obtaining current copies of the following Australian Standards, which are available for purchase from NECA Education & Careers, or the Intertek Inform website, and are also available from some libraries, institutions, and industry associations:
Students will also require the following:
Refer to the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Policy.
The course has been developed to ensure accreditation requirements are met which includes:.
The Clean Energy Regulator (CER) recently made significant changes to the accreditation process, impacting all Solar and Battery Installers and Designers.
Any individual who wishes to design Grid Connected Battery Systems (GCBS), must now be accredited under the SAA Scheme to be eligible for small-scale technology certificates (STCs).
